When two rounds of dry-hopping just aren't enough, sometimes you have to circle back around for a third; this is exactly where most of Nine Trizzay's 9.3 pounds of hops per barrel end up. While this Double IPA is as dry as Inglewood in the summer, the 9.9% ABV and bready British malts provide an airbag-like cushion for the massive amount of Westcoast hops that get dropped on it like a '64 Impala. The result is a big bitterness that never gets astringent or out of line and somehow manages to find some balance between the two opposing factions of malt and hop. The aroma is drenched in juicy honeydew melon, grapefruit zest, freshly picked pine needles, and a discreet amount of indo. Flavors deliver as promised with even more complex melon notes of cantaloupe, a medley of citrus, some sweet hints of Muscat grape, and juicy passionfruit, creating a jubilee of flavors reminiscent of the pink bottle of Mad Dog 20/20, but only in the best possible way.
