Anchor Brewing - Baykeeper IPA

Teeming with lime, orange zest and papaya aromas, Baykeeper IPA has a slightly spicy, yet slightly sweet taste that finishes with a delicate bitterness. Mosaic, Cascade and Amarillo Cryo hops were used to amplify the fruity, piney hop aromatics in this slightly hazy brew. Anchor takes a balanced approach to the bitterness while ramping up the hop intensity in Baykeeper IPA.

Anchor Brewing - BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red

BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced American red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. The result is a distinctive fall seasonal beer with extraordinary depth and intriguing aroma.

Anchor Brewing - Blackberry Daze
Style: India Pale Ale
ABV: 6.50%

Blackberry Daze IPA gets its hop bitterness and some hop aroma in the brewhouse, but most of the action happens in the cellar when the fruit is added during secondary fermentation. A special blend of loamy, herbaceous hops for dry-hopping complements the brightness and deep complexity of the blackberries. The result is a funky synthesis of rich earth and ripe fruit, with hop bitterness and blackberry tartness.

Anchor Brewing - Blood Orange Blonde
Style: Blonde
ABV: 4.50%

Blood Orange Blonde gets some of its citrusy aroma in the brewhouse, where California orange peels are added to the brewkettle. Most of the action, however, is in the cellar, where the blood orange fruit (we use the Sanguinello cultivar) is added during secondary fermentation. Its taste combines the succulent complexity of blood oranges with mild hop bitterness, subtle malty sweetness, and a long, dry finish.

Anchor Brewing - Double Liberty IPA

When the Cascade hop is used is such large quantities in both the kettle and dry hopping the result is golden hued ale with a bountiful rich tropical fruit aroma and flavor. The perceived bitterness is lower than the actual 90 IBU’s would suggest and together with no alcohol heat culminates into a deceivably drinkable Double IPA.

The stouts savored in Gold Rush San Francisco were no ordinary ales. They were export stouts—dark, intense, high-gravity brews created to survive the long voyage around Cape Horn. Inspired by this unique history, Flying Cloud San Francisco Stout is a Dublin-style brew made with English Maris Otter pale malt, two black malts, and flaked barley. Nugget and Golding hops provide a spicy, floral complement to the deep, dark-chocolaty maltiness and dry finish.

Los Gigantes is a San Francisco Giants nickname known and loved by many fans,” said Anchor Brewmaster Scott Ungermann. “We knew it would be a perfect complement to this Giants-inspired Mexican style lager. The beer’s recipe combines a blend of 2-row pale malt, flaked maize, and Cluster and Tettnang hops. The result is a crisp, refreshing lager that is light and easy-drinking.

Lemon Lager uses two different malts; pale two-row and Pils. In the whirlpool we use California cluster hops, then dry hop the beer with Nugget, Steiner, and Experimental No. 07270 hops. Our special ingredient is the California-grown Meyer Lemons, which are a cross between a true lemon and an orange, adding a sweeter, less acidic flavor than traditional lemons.

Continuing our rich tradition of innovation, we engineered the Odeprot, a custom vessel that continually filters the beer during the dry-hopping process. This is the forty-third annual "Our Special Ale" from the brewers at Anchor. It is sold only from early November to mid-January. The Ale's recipe is different every year, as the tree on the label, but with the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with it's seasons, appears born anew. Our tree for 2017 is the Santa Lucia fir. Extremely rare, it is native and limited to California's Santa Lucia Range.

San Franpsycho IPA is fermented with a mixed culture of yeast to create a unique and fruity estery nose, unlike any other IPA from Anchor. Anchor brewers add peach and apricot fruit puree during the secondary fermentation, giving the beer a pleasant hint of sweetness and abundantly fruity aromas of peach, apricot, and pineapple with a bit of funky dank.

Anchor Brewing - Summer Wheat

Released each year in advance of the summer season, Anchor Summer Wheat is an all-malt craft beer, with over 50% of its malt derived from malted wheat. It is fermented with a traditional yeast, yielding a clean, balanced flavor that highlights the refreshingly light flavor of malted wheat. The head is unusually abundant due to the natural protein deposits of wheat, with a thick consistency similar to meringue.

Anchor Brewing - Zymaster No. 6 Saaremaa
Style: Island Ale
ABV: 6.00%

Inspired by Anchor Brewmaster Mark Carpenter’s Estonian beer journey. Saaremaa Island Ale is a medium-bitter pale ale (6% ABV) with Old World hop flavor and aroma with a light body and clean finish. But what makes our ale exceptional is the native yeast that Mark clandestinely brought back from his journey. It took months to isolate and culture this special strain, so essential to the unique character of Saaremaa Island’s indigenous beers. Reminiscent of some Belgian varieties, the yeast contributes a richly complex piquancy with overtones of freshly ground clove and allspice.

Anchor Brewing - Zymaster No. 7
Style: Sour IPA
ABV: 7.00%

We prepare a 100% rye malt mash just as we would for our rye whiskey. After transferring it to a small open fermenter, we pitch the yeast and wait. Five days later, we mash it in the brewhouse, using a blend of pale barley malt and rye malt. Then we add the sour mash from the distillery, which lowers the pH of our brewery mash. By introducing sour mash before the boil instead of after it, we are able to create tartness in this brew without sourness.

Anchor Brewing - Zymaster No.5 Harvest One
Style: American Pale Ale
ABV: 7.20%

Zymaster Series No. 5 is made with a special blend of pale, caramel, and Munich malts, which contribute a distinctively complex maltiness and deep golden color. Nugget hops give it a tangy bitterness. But the hallmark of Zymaster 5: Harvest One American Pale Ale is the intriguingly novel aroma of an experimental new hop, which was used liberally in both the brewhouse and the cellar. A late addition to the boil plus dry hopping provides Harvest One with an incredibly lively hop aroma reminiscent of tree-ripened peaches, with just a hint of fresh melon. The result is a uniquely exciting new beer unlike anything brewed or tasted before.
