For those of you following our saga of 21 years, we FINALLY broke ground on our long planned and much needed Taj Mahal! An event of this magnitude deserved a unique hop bomb to toast with. TWENTY ONE is built on a foundation of dark specialty malts, framed by sturdy IBUs and crowned with a monumental dry hop addition of two of our favorites, Amarillo and Simcoe.

The only other beer we’ve ever made that was 100% fermented by drie was our fifteenth anniversary ale back in 2008. With Twenty Two, we took it to the next level with dry-hopping. 100% Brettanomyces drie Fermented Dry-Hopped Wild Ale. Brettanomyces—the wild cousin of the domesticated yeasts that humans have brewed with for thousands of years—can add flavors in beer lovingly described by brewers as funk, leather, and horse-blanket.

Our house strain, Brettanomyces drie, brings loads of ripe stone fruit aromas to the mix. Brettanomyces bruxellensis lends the classic horsey and rustic aspects of a traditional wild ale, while Brettanomyces custersianus delivers massive tropical fruit essences to the flavor party. Add some beautiful, dark and robust Belgian specialty malts for caramel, chocolate and fig elements and you have this — our rendition of a Dark Farmhouse Ale.

Originally brewed to celebrate Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009, we elected to give Ale to the Chief a second term to commemorate the 2012 election!? ?Not an “Imperial” pale ale, this is a democracy. It’s Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase both to Avery Brewing standards, and then, of c??ourse, dry hop.

Collaboration with Russian River Brewing based on their Salvation Ales. It leaves a lip-smacking sweetness on the lips yet isn’t overly syrupy. There is plenty of light raisin and dark fruit notes. The herbal spices make more of an appearance as the beer warms that lingers through the lightly biting and dry finish. And at just under 9% ABV the beer is quite warming and drinkable.

Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnut, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Before founding Avery Brewing Co., one of Adam Avery's most-loved styles of beer was the English Strong Ale. Wanting something a little bigger, he created Old Jubilation. This beer was massive when it came out in 1997, but Adam still decided to put it in 6-packs as a holiday gift to Avery fans. To us, "Old Jube" feels like an old friend coming home for the holidays. And, at 8.3 percent ABV, it's also well-suited to take the edge off at uncomfortable holiday family gatherings.

We wondered what would happen if a monstrous pumpkin ale, plump full of spicy gourdiness, were aged in fine fresh rum barrels to add suggestions of delicate oak and candied molasses. Rumpkin is what happened! This first member of the Annual Barrel-Aged Series was brewed with roasted pumpkins from a local Boulder County farm, and spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.

The success of Hog Heaven and The Reverend clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace “BIGGER” beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker-colored predecessors. Luscious apricot and peach aromas are delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon in this heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir.

The Beast is a seducer – accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. With a deep burgundy color and aromas of honey, nutmeg, mandarin orange and pineapple, this massive and challenging brew has flavors akin to a beautiful Carribean rum. Dates, plums, raisins and molasses are dominant in a rich vinous texture.

Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley – fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence.

Avery Brewing Co. - Uncle Jacob's Stout

Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
