We tried 5 or 6 different things to try and achieve this process (some of which failed miserably), then we discovered a relatively simple process that deliberately did all the things that the textbooks told us not to do.

This fruity, estery double altbier is brewed in the traditional-ish style of the Doppelsticke, which is the widely known secret Germanic-esque strong ale. Like it's California Common counterpart, we fermented this ale at a lower temperature to pull out the sulphur-y bite from the yeast, then dry-hopped it with some dank, Sticky hops, including some brand-spankin'-new Enigma hops from the great Down Under!

A sort of glowing orange on the pour, light haze, ostensibly from the huge volume of hop oils. Those oils get right to work once unleashed from the bottle, bringing forth first (and appropriately) a big hit of dank, weedy hop aromas, but very quickly they're joined by fruit, tropical and berries alike, and finishing off with a bit of spicy herbs.

They set out on a '66 Impala armed with a "Treasure Map" on a journey to find a secret garden near point reyes. They met there at the same time every day and continued their quest. They never found the secret garden... but they kept lookin'. The Dankest and Hoppiest beer ever brewed at Lagunitas was made with the help of the Waldos for all treasure hunters.

In 1971, the Waldos met one afteroon at 4:20 in the front courtyard of their school near the statue of Louis Pasteur. They set out in a ’66 Impala armed with a "treasure map" on a journey to find a secret garden near Point Reyes. They met there at the same time every day and continued their quest. They never found the secret garden....But they keep lookin’. The dankest and hoppiest beer ever brewed at Lagunitas was made with help of the Waldos for all treasure hunters.

It’s a chocolatey, coffee-y, smoky, Bourbon-y beast of a barrel-aged thing. Word.
