Sixpoint Craft Ales - Ballast point

The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor.

This is a BINE-ary dual-hopped Double IPA with the best of both hemispheres—strains so good they’re practically cheat codes. Binary beer features Citra and Galaxy hops for an incredible aroma. Citra is super complex, with notes ranging from dank citrus to gooseberry and more. Galaxy is perhaps the most expressive strain available, providing a huge blast of pure stone fruit and tropical aroma.

The Global Warmer is 7% ABV with 70 searing IBUs. After a nose characterized by big hop character, an ample, coating bitterness rushes the palate. The malt is a pleasant contrast; it’s soft and complex, with notes of biscuit and toasted caramel. And the malt presence is deep enough that you’ll detect dark fruit and even mild hints of chocolate as your brew warms.

This is a classic Kölsch with an exclusive twist — growers at Hopfengut in Germany recently released the Huell Melon hop strain, with the clean bittering qualities of noble hop strains, but an elusive “honey-dew melon” aroma. So for Köld Schauer think easy-drinking, low bitterness, with a unique perfume. Those pilgrimages we’ve been taking to German hop fields are paying dividends…

Style: Sour
ABV: 4.70% IBU: 7.0

Little Raspy is a little sensitive. He's low ABV, got a soft, white, fluffy cap and the raspberry puree he's brewed with gives him a pinkish hue. And that makes people think he isn't tough. But he's a prickly sucker... definitely one of the most sour beers the Mad Scientists have released in recent memory. Kettle-soured and sometimes served with proprietary "Raspy Sauce."

RESIN slaps you with serious unfiltered dankness — sure it stings, but it feels so good at the same time. It’s hop candy up front, but drinks super clean for the size of the beer. Key Ingredients Chinook and Centennial Hops are a little old school, with tons of resin and pine notes. RESIN uses a ton of different hops, for a massively complex hop bouquet.

Sloop and Sixpoint have come together over the years to make four versions of these collaborative IPAs, drawing from the source material of Sloop’s iconic Juice Bomb, combined with Sixpoint’s foray into grain-grape combinations in the small batch Spritzer series. Spritzer Bomb is all the juice of a serious hazy IPA with the tingly finish of sauvignon blanc grapes. Bombs away!
