Hop sediment, yeast, proteins & polyphenols are things we usually remove from beer in the centrifugation process. Not so with this beer. We let this one leave the building in its natural state, which results in a cloudy, hazy, hoppy beer. Brewed similarly to our world-class 2XIPA, but in 2X Unfiltered IPA the dominant hops are Cascade & Centennial. This beer represents a new way to enjoy our hoppy ales: in their natural, unrefined state.

2XSMASH is the newest in our line of single malt and single hop India Pale Ales, brewed with Mosaic hops and Special pale malt. Even simplified to one variety of hop and one type of malt, it is amazing how complex the flavor is. Mosaic hops are known for their luxurious tropical citrus notes like passionfruit and work absolutely brilliantly with the richness of Special pale malt. Cheers!

Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely!

Blueberry Tart is the result of two beers blended into one. The first beer is a kettle soured blonde ale. The second is a simple imperial wheat ale into which we add a whole lot of blueberry puree. At first it is bright and juicy, followed by sweet and round in the middle, and ending with a mild tartness that en-courages another mouthful. Slight notes of pie crust emerge in the aftertaste of this imperial ale.

The brewery is located just a short drive from arguably the most ideal Concord grape growing region in the world. So, it made sense for us to brew a beer with the juice of these classic grapes. The nose is defined by equal parts bright lactic acidity and grape aroma with a hint of coriander. On the palate, the strong lacto acidity is balanced by the natural sweetness of the Concord grapes.

Imperial Peach Gose has a noticeably sour aroma, with peach pulp, and tea-like notes of chamomile and cardamom. On the palate the strong acidity is balanced by the inherent sweetness of the peaches and the herbal nature of the extra ingredients. The finished beer is slightly cloudy, softly peach hued with a persistent white head and durable lacing thanks to a large portion of wheat in the grist.

We are using absurd amounts of hops, dry hopped on 4 different days, making it a juicy flavor and aroma bomb. A slight malty sweetness balances a dry and very mild finish which melds perfectly with its hazy appearance. Tropical, citrus, and stone fruit, and pleasingly floral character is marked with notes of big, dank, resinous Mosaic, Citra, and Amarillo hops. Enjoy!
