3.8 Miles opens with bright notes of ripe mango, fresh lemon zest, juicy pineapple, and candied apricot. For this follow up to 38 Blocks, we kept the base beer mostly the same, but started with a brand new hop bill consisting of nearly 8 lbs of Mosaic, El Dorado and Lemondrop hops per barrel. The soft, creamy mouthfeel to holds up to the incredibly bold hop character without finishing too sweet.

One of our favorite beers so far this year, and one which really gained some traction once the word got out about it, was Fluid Dynamics. Brewed with our two new favoritest hops, Sabro + Lotus, this hazy DIPA takes the same formula and turns it up to 11 in celebration of the WeldWerks Invitational. A super-soft mouthfeel compliments big notes of tangerine, vanilla, coconut and mango.

Style: American IPA
ABV: 7.00% IBU: 60.0

For Alpha Bits 1, we kept the malt bill similar to Juicy Bits, with nearly 20% flaked oats and flaked wheat, but made some pretty significant changes to the hop additions in order to better showcase the different hops used in Alpha Bits 1. We increased the bitterness a touch with a larger and longer hop addition in the whirlpool and we also scaled up the dry hop additions accordingly, bringing the total hop rate up to nearly 5 lbs/bbl

Weldwerks Brewing Co. - Alpha Bits 3
Style: India Pale Lager
ABV: 7.10% IBU: 55.0

Alpha Bits 3 followed nearly the exact same malt bill and hop schedule as Juicy Bits, using 3.4 lbs of Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado. But we fermented it with our house lager strain (the same used for Puesta del Sol) to produce an IPL version of Juicy Bits. The colder fermentation and extended lagering kept the fermentation profile clean and crisp, allowing the hops to truly shine, resulting in a beer suprisingly unique from its predecessor.

Bursting with notes of pineapple, tangerine, apricot, and mango, Alpha Bits 7, the latest release in our rotating hop series, was designed specifically with summertime patio drinking in mind. We lowered the ABV a touch to enhance drinkability, but also increased the hop rate a bit to showcase the complexity of the style, using over 4 lbs of Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops per barrel.

Style: American IPA
ABV: 7.00% IBU: 55.0

For Alpha Bits 2, we increased the flaked oats and flaked wheat to nearly 30% and three different hop varietals that have not yet been featured in any of our Juicy Bits variants. We increased the bitterness a touch with a larger and longer hop addition in the whirlpool and we also scaled up the dry hop additions significantly, bringing the total hop rate to just over 5 lbs/bbl.

Weldwerks Brewing Co. - Altbier
Style: Altbier
ABV: 4.80%

While Altbiers employ an ale yeast, they share a lot in common with German Pilsners in malt characteristic. Ours also utilizes Caramunich malts, which translates to notes of caramel, nuttiness, and toasty bread, and noble hops, that give it a slightly spicy/herbal profile as well. While light and crisp in body like a Lager, its layered malt bill and stone fruit esters give it added depth and complexity.

	Weldwerks Brewing Co. - Amber Lager Style: Amber ABV: 5.60% Festbier brewed with an equal amount of Vienna and Pilsner malts for the base along with several types of Munich malts to create a soft, delicate malt sweetness. Hallertau hops add just enough bitterness to balance the malt character and work with the lager yeast to produce a clean and complex beer with a crisp, dry finish.

Apollo's Remix features of the return of Experimental Hop 06297, the same used in our recent brew Apollo's Sun, which imparts flavors that are totally unique and has totally blown us away. For this rendition, we decided to pair this amazing hop - which gives big notes of candied citrus and vanilla - with our 2018 hand-selected batch of Citra, which lends a lemony twist to the (re)mix.

Style: Gose
ABV: 4.60% IBU: 9.0

Starting with a traditional German malt bill consisting of 50% Pilsen malt and 50% wheat malt, we then kettle sour the wort, meaning we innoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off but before racking to the fermenter. A generous apricot addition complements the tartness of the base beer and the sea salt and coriander add to the complexity, producing a beer that is tart, dry, salty, fruity and extremely refreshing.

For this second entry in the Beta Bits rotating hop series, we kept the base beer the same as Beta Bits 1, but started with a brand new hop bill consisting of more than 7 lbs of Mosaic, Amarillo and Lemondrop hops per barrel. The Beta Bits series, inspired by Juicy Bits, our popular New England-style IPA, will serve as our new playground/proving ground for everything hoppy, allowing us to continue our journey of hop exploration by trialing different brewing techniques and testing new and experimental hop varietals and products, with the goal of pushing our hop boundaries even further.

Gose is a sour wheat ale that dates back over 1,000 years to Goslar, Germany. Our Black Cherry Gose starts as a kettle sour, meaning we inoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off but before racking to the fermenter. We use sea salt to mimic the slightly salty water from the Gose River in Germany. Finally, we put a cherry on top, literally, with a generous cherry addition that lends a bright, ripe cherry flavor and aroma that perfectly complements the tartness of the base beer. Fruity, tart, salty and sweet…what more could you want?

Blackberry Berliner is a sour wheat ale that starts with a traditional German malt bill consisting of 50% Pilsen malt and 50% wheat malt. To achieve the tartness and acidity, we kettle sour the wort, meaning we innoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off but before racking to the fermenter. Finally, we add a generous amount of blackberry that lends a juicy, ripe blackberry flavor and aroma that perfectly complements the tartness of the base beer. The dry finish accentuates the tartness and makes for a dangerously drinkable and extremely refreshing beer.

The sweet, creaminess of the toasted coconut offers a perfect complement to the complex character contributed the Mama Nelly’s coffee, a blend of four different roasts of the same direct-trade Peruvian beans.

Earlier in the year we got a phenomenal response from Sweet Carolinas, a creamsicle-inspired Milkshake IPA brewed with a bunch of friends from the Carolinas to help with hurricane relief. Starting with a traditional German malt bill consisting of 50% Pilsen malt and 50% wheat malt, we then kettle sour the wort, meaning we innoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off but before racking to the fermenter. For Double Raspberry Berliner, we used more than double the amount of fruit compared to our other kettle sours, lending a huge ripe raspberry flavor that is a perfect complement to the dry finish and acidity of the base beer.

We started by designing a Blonde Barleywine base specifically for the Eggnog treatment, using 100% Simpsons Golden Promise for the base malt, along with flaked oats and Turbinado sugar. Then we aged the finished beer on toasted and charred American oak spirals and nearly 250 lbs of pasteurized egg yolks. Finally we added a healthy dose of fresh ground nutmeg and a dash of fresh ground cinnamon.

Features notes of candied mango, papaya, and candied apricot, which are a wonderful complement to the citrus and tropical fruit character provided by Citra and Mosaic. Eldo is in full display in EDDDHJB, thanks to the more than 4 lbs/bbl of El Dorado added to the dry hop, which combined with the normal hop schedule of Citra, Mosaic & El Dorado , brings the total hop rate to over 8 lbs/bbl!

This entry in our #pastrysour series starts by adding milk sugar to our kettle-soured Berliner base, then fermenting it with over 500 lbs of peach puree. After fermentation, we age the finished beer with graham cracker and vanilla to give it the signature pie character. Then added a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg to top off the pie flavor. Each and every sip brings you back to mom's kitchen in the summer time.

Style: Berliner Weissbier
ABV: 4.60% IBU: 6.0

Starting with a traditional German malt bill consisting of 50% Pilsen malt and 50% wheat malt, we then kettle sour the wort, meaning we innoculate it with lactobacillus bacteria after mashing and wort run-off but before racking to the fermenter. A generous pomegranate addition during fermentation lends a fresh fruit flavor and aroma that perfectly complements the tartness of the base beer.

Puesta del Sol is our own spin on the Vienna lager style with nods to both its Austrian and Mexican roots. We use an equal amount of Vienna and Pilsner malts for the base along with several types of Munich malts to create a soft, delicate malt sweetness. Hallertau hops add just enough bitterness to balance the malt character and work with the lager yeast to produce a clean and complex beer with a crisp, dry finish.

The rich caramel, burnt sugar, toffee, chocolate, and coffee flavors are accentuated by a generous sea salt addition in Salted Caramel Porter. We fermented with a low-attenuating English yeast to maintain some of the candy-like sweetness in the finish, but balanced the sweetness with dark roasted malts and a generous addition of sea salt in the boil.
