Meet our TOP HOP 2019 beer, "500 Hills" American/Robust Porter.
Named in honor of the 500 hop hills at Loup Valley Hops, this porter showcases the versatility of their Cascade that were used. We've added them early in the boil for a clean bitterness and then late for just a touch of hop flavor and aroma to perfectly balance the roast of the malt bill.
The Robust Porter features more bitter and roasted malt flavor than a brown porter, but not quite as much as a stout. Robust porters have a roast malt flavor, often reminiscent of cocoa, but no roast barley flavor.
