West O Beer - Doppelbock
Style: Doppelbock
ABV: 7.30%
IBU: 21.0
"Dopple-", meaning double, this is the "big-brother" to one of the most popular German beer styles, the bock. Historically, doppelbocks were said to be brewed by Bavarian monks as a form of "liquid bread" to provide sustenance during their fasting months. The bold and assertively malty style is always well-balanced and surprisingly drinkable, and pairs perfectly with a roaring fire on a cold, crisp evening.
Toasted bread and unsalted pretzel give way to notes of sticky toffee, dried fruits, and just a touch of sweet chocolate. This rich and full-bodied strong lager pours a deep garnet with a long-lasting, creamy head, and opens up to more complex flavors and aromas as it warms.
