in the joining of two great houses, lead dog brewing co. & mammoth brewing co. are proud to release, hair of the bear, a true lager made with all german barke malts and aged 3 months in our lagering tank in sparks, nv. this traditional doppelbock owes its legacy to the 17th century bavarian monks of st. francis of paula, who preferred strong, satiating, malt-dominant bockbeirs to sustain them during fasts. offering characteristics of toasted bread, caramel, and dark fruit and a smooth, slightly sweet finish, it’s hard not to enjoy a little hair of the bear.
